Korean amphibians were usually named by foreign scholars during the Japanese occupation. Also, it’s very difficult to search for Korean rather than Japanese names for amphibians because of Japanese colonial culture policy. Typically, many people were confused about whether Rana uenoi’s Korean name should be Bukbangsangaeguri or San-gaeguri because of taxonomic differences. Therefore, we investigated several references to find the right name for Rana uenoi. We suggest that it should be called Bukbangsan-geguri rather than san-geguri according to the conventional principles.
